Access 2007

A glimpse of the new guy

Access is usually the application you learn after you run into a capability block in Excel.
The new 2007 version has the same Ribbon User Interface as Word and Excel.
The layout schemes have changed, but are pretty easy to pick up on.
With its improved interface and interactive design capabilities that do not require deep database knowledge, Microsoft Office Access 2007 helps you track and report information with ease. Get started quickly with prebuilt applications that you can modify or adapt to changing business needs. Collect information through forms in e-mail or import data from external applications.

Earlier versions of Access support file formats that use the .mdb file extension. In Office Access 2007, you can continue to open .mdb files. If the file is stored in the Access 2000 or Access 2002-2003 file format, you can open it and use it as you normally would. However, you cannot take advantage of the new features that require the .accdb file format.

After you upgrade the database to the .accdb file format, you can no longer open the database by using a version of Access earlier than Access 2007.
